  1. I think that thinking is certainly linked to engagement, which is certainly married to motivation! Positive relationships are certainly part of this equation. In what ways can we foster independent learning through prior knowledge? How can we trick them into connecting with canonic literature?

  2. I love listening to your blogs! I think independent learning through prior knowledge will only happen when students are encouraged, allowed, and given the time to think for themselves.

  3. I think that for too long the educational system has focused on teaching rather than relating. I think that listening to your blog, we have to changed this ideation and encourage our students to think, challenge, and formulate their own approach to ideas allowing them to be independent learners and thinkers.

  4. As I have stated before we must find a way to make the learner understand the need for literacy instruction. Again from my piont of view we must still address the deficienties of those students who are in the secondary school system and can not meet the rigorous requirments of in-depth reading and writing; tthis is the reality. I find your views interesting.

  5. I think the positive relationships you talked about are key to a students education. The hard part is finding that positive angle for all students and applying it to make them more literate.

  7. I agree with you that students will only seek or put forth the minimum effort to pass and the situation of passiveness when it comes to students learning. But teachers and educators can support students' learning by infusing the strategies and ideas of part 3. Its a human right but most importantly we need literacy to survive and obtain jobs and an income. Its a process that is gradual but can be very supportive of students becoming independence life long learners as teachers reduce their role and let students share and reflect learning experiences.

  8. I really enjoyed you response to your assigned chapters I feel that students will not become engaged in any activites unless they are fully interested in what is the topic at that given moment.
